Emily worked in film & TV for several years before a regular 9-5 led her to data analytics. You can read more about the unlikely way she landed her first job in entertainment in her introduction to Film ♥︎ Data.
She was fortunate to work on films with some of the people whose work she watched when she was young, like Danny Boyle, Aaron Sorkin, and Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris.
Before that, Emily studied anthropology and journalism at UC Santa Cruz, then economics, politics and cultures of Asia at USF, Mandarin Chinese at UC Berkeley, and statistics & data science at MIT.
Emily writes and produces all content, and designed the Film ♥ Data site using the Valkyrie theme by Xaes for Ghost. She believes technology should be used for good, not evil, unless it's evil for good, which is fine.
